The first public BUHE article explained why Ethiopique is opening this conversation.

Now we want to begin the next phase: showing what we are studying, what we are learning, and what questions must be answered before any community wealth idea can move forward responsibly.

This work started from something we heard again and again during Ethiopique’s listening sessions: many people in our community are trying to navigate American systems without a clear guide.

One participant said, “Our people, when someone figures something out after two years of struggle, they don’t tell the next person. That time should not have to be wasted again.”

Another participant said, “People often say the system, the system, but no one explains what the system actually is. If that were explained, we would all benefit.”
